What’s The Story About Klein Blue, The Colour Of 2023

The vibrant blue colour is a resurfacing fashion trend with the vibrant colour taking the centre stage. The Klein Blue colour has been popular in the fashion world for several years. The colour can be paired with neutral tones such as black, white, and grey for a classic look, or it can be combined with other bright colours such as fuchsia, orange, or yellow for a more daring and colourful ensemble. But what is the story behind the enchanting colour?

Cobalt Blue is a rich, deep shade of blue that is often described as being similar to the colour of the sky on a clear day, while Klein Blue is a brighter, electric blue hue.

International Klein Blue (IKB) was developed by French artist Yves Klein in the late 1950s. Klein was searching for a colour that would transcend traditional painting techniques and create an immersive experience for the viewer. He was inspired by the idea of creating an "atmosphere" of colour that would surround the viewer, rather than simply being an element within a painting.

Klein began experimenting with various shades of blue, and eventually settled on a deep, ultramarine blue that he believed had a special quality of light and depth. It is a rich, vibrant blue colour that creates a luminous, otherworldly effect. He patented the colour in 1960, calling it International Klein Blue (IKB), and it quickly became his signature colour.

After Klein's untimely death in 1962, IKB continued to be used by other artists, including Yves Saint Laurent, who used the colour in his fashion designs. Today, IKB remains a popular colour in the art world and is considered one of the most iconic and influential colours of the 20th century.
